Product quality is better than expected. Pretty big too. The bottom is lightly padded, but the vinyl fabric isn't soft. I'd say it's a downside (but I just put a blanket on the underside) and the vinyl is probably easier to clean in the event of an accident. The mounts were easy to install but difficult to attach to the bike (especially around the cables). When I first attached and assembled everything, one of my brake cables was tight. I had to completely disassemble and reposition the brackets around the bike cables. I would recommend checking all the cables and moving the bike around before fully tightening and securing the mounts to the handlebars. My little 7.5 pound nugget was a little crazy on the first ride. She shifted from side to side trying to get out and fell (thank goodness there is a harness and line to tie her to the bottom of the basket). However, riding with a dog in a basket was more difficult than I could have imagined. I felt her pulling the wheel all the way and controlling the bike. Maybe it's just me. Maybe you've forgotten how to ride a bike. But I believe that even with a slightly larger dog, the effect would be even greater. Just a warning and something to think about. I originally bought two of these baskets (I have two small dogs) but ended up returning one and buying another basket for my small dog. He weighs 5 pounds and had trouble seeing even over the top of the basket. I bought him a basket (link below) with a bottom front. At least now he can see over the basket without craning or straining his neck.
