It was helpful. ;) The block weighs very little. There is barely room to write the month and year for the "replace by" date on the side of the device. The instructions state that it needs to be vacuumed frequently, ostensibly to remove dust. turn on the vacuum cleaner. ;) I would buy again. The tamper evident design (and Kidde branding) made this an obvious choice. It is valid for up to ten years. I give him a solid six years; no longer.
