Excellent detail, LiveScope compatibility, just a small complaint

Bright screen, intuitive menus and great sonar detail. The included charts are pretty good in most places. For others, such as Whether it's a river with a sandy or muddy bottom where things change from year to year, or a less visited lake without accurate maps, QuickDraw creates your own accurate contour maps on the go. Side view is great for spotting fry, underground vegetation, and large fish or schools of smaller fish. On traditional sonar, a tree trunk or branch may look like a single fish or multiple fish, but down-firing sonar shows them for what they really are. LiveScope is an expensive add-on that you can connect to this device that gives you an amazing real-time view of your surroundings. My own complaint is minor: the unit has a sonar data logging feature. I used the same feature on an older Humminbird model and it was really helpful at times. If you missed something interesting and want to review it later or show someone, you can play back the sonar recording. However, Garmin's ECHOMAP only allows you to record sonar data, not play it back, making the feature almost useless. discontinued. You can still install it, but it depends on some older Windows components. They have moved away from HomePort and suggest using their ActiveCaptain app, but rudder functionality (including viewing sonar logs) is not supported on the ECHOMAP device. So this model has a sonar recording function, but it is currently not supported. view recordings. Hopefully Garmin will add playback to the device via a software update and/or add this feature to their ActiveCaptain app. my previous page image sonar.

Replacement for an older out of date chartplotter. I love it.
