I will update when I find out the problem. (EDIT 1) I was able to hit my 1Gbps speed recently. I get faster download speeds on Chrome, I get much faster download speeds on Safari. This didn't happen with the Apple connector I was using on my old computer, which had download and upload speeds of around 960Mbps. When I use it with my 2016 MBP I only get 600 Mbps. With my 2015 MBP and an Apple Thunderbolt to Ethernet connection I got 950+ Mbps both ways. I'm going to buy an Apple Thunderbolt 3 on TB2 and see if the speed is up to that adapter.
