Works great but doesn't last long

I bought this product and it's been working great for 3 weeks but unfortunately the weird circuit broke when I tried to unplug it from my laptop. and came right away! I can't believe I paid $20 for it and it's just cheaply made and I can't believe it was so broken what a rip off.

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Worked immediately.

I have a MacBook Pro 13" 2017 Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports. It has no ethernet ports. Sometimes I need to connect to Ethernet (RJ45). Hence the need for this adapter. I tested it by connecting it from a MacBook to an AirPort Extreme connected to a 2017 iMac via Ethernet using an Ethernet cable. I migrated a directory containing 4.4GB of 7700 files. Out of the box it worked great. No software settings, just plug and play. The adapter was a bit warmer than I expected.

Works with the new XPS 13-9350 - Plug and Play

I just bought a Dell XPS 13 9350 (i7 256GB QHD Display) laptop with a USB-C port. I'm happy to report that the USB-C to Ethernet connector is ready to use - plug and play. I didn't have to search for drivers. I get the full 95 MB/s advertised by my ISP. I was worried it would be incompatible, but I'm pleasantly surprised. I am planning to buy a USB-C to HDMI adapter and am hoping to get some luck with compatibility with this adapter.

Pros
  • Good to use
Cons
  • No Insurance

Hopefully it's my ISP working on some kinks.

I will update when I find out the problem. (EDIT 1) I was able to hit my 1Gbps speed recently. I get faster download speeds on Chrome, I get much faster download speeds on Safari. This didn't happen with the Apple connector I was using on my old computer, which had download and upload speeds of around 960Mbps. When I use it with my 2016 MBP I only get 600 Mbps. With my 2015 MBP and an Apple Thunderbolt to Ethernet connection I got 950+ Mbps both ways. I'm going to buy an Apple Thunderbolt 3 on…

Great cable! - Networking Products

I recently purchased a Revain Fire Cube. The cable that came with the Cube offered 100MB, although I've never gone over 90MB, it's not enough! I bought a cable from another company that promised a max speed of 1GB, that was DOA. waste of money. I have purchased Cable Matters products before so I knew they were of good quality. I went ahead and bought a USB-C Ethernet cable adapter that offered 1GB of speed (I also had to buy an adapter to connect to a USB cable since the Cube's USB port is a…

Works with 2018 MacBook Air

Another thing Apple dropped from its new 2018 MacBook Air is Ethernet. When I'm on the road, it helps a lot in customers' offices. Wireless is great when it's available, but many companies have weird portals for accessing wireless networks (which require employees to jump through hoops). And sometimes they just don't work well. Ethernet is, well, Ethernet, and if it's available, it's needed in these circumstances. Having USB-C means I can plug in an Apple video adapter (another dongle) and (how

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • No automatic controls

I tested this on Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019), Samsung A50, Pixel 3XL, Pixel XL and Custom LineageOS 16.0 (based on Android Pie) on one old Moto Tab. All are compatible. The minimum Android version is 9.0. It also effectively hits the maximum theoretical gigabit speeds in both upload and download, at least on the Pixel 3 XL, which was an unexpected surprise. Older USB3.0 adapters based on the ASIX chipset appear to provide a maximum one-way speed of 300Mbps on the same phone. In fact, it…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design

  • Slightly wrinkled

Would not recommend

Updated 10/07/2019, I wanted to update my review because the seller was a great help. Without asking me, they sent me a new replacement product - it says "Great Customer Service". I've replaced an apparently faulty one with the new ones that were sent to me and this adapter seems to be working fine so far. I haven't had any fallout since the exchange and hope this trend continues. I'll update this again in a few weeks to see if it still works properly. My laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port…
