This automatic pet feeder is inexpensive, simple and low-tech (which could be a pro or a con, depending on your needs).Each tray runs on a single AA battery. The timers make audible ticking sounds, even after they have opened the lids, as the timers continue to run as long as the batteries are inserted (even if you aren't actively using the timers).My elderly cat was not deterred in the least by the loud ticking and adapted quickly to getting a treat in the middle of the night (rather than waking me up with howling at 4am).Everything works as intended, but the materials do feel super flimsy.Given that no mention is made of whether the plastic is BPA-free or not, I am going to assume that it isn't. Wish the bowls were made of stainless steel or something less likely to leech chemicals into my pet's food.
