I bought these socks because people said they didn't get heat rashes from wearing them hiking. My problem is that Smart Wool or Alpaca socks are too hot in summer. My knuckles are red and itchy. So I tried these socks on a day hike (3 1/2 miles up and down - 2000 feet of ascent). The climb up was ok but the descent in the boots I use for hiking left my heels sore and sore. Even with a daypack. Only the gasket is missing. For a typical day in the forest, they have to work. But more seriously, they just don't offer enough cushioning. And yes, I use Superfeet in my boots to soften the impact. Suitable for: sports wear, running, daily walking.
