Schrade 162OT Old Timer fixed spear knife with Delrin handle and leather sheath

I consider myself a knife collector. I bought this Schrade - 162OT Old Timer Fixed Spear Blade Knife to add to my collection but I think I will use it for a truck knife. That means I'll keep it in my truck for use when fishing, in the wooded area around my home in southern Mississippi, and at the dock. I have to say that Shrade knives have been my favorite knife for the last 45 years since I bought my first Shrade folding pocket knife, the original Old Timer which I still own. I think of knives as tools, and some very specific tools because they're good for what they're meant for and no more. Yes, you can wear one on your hip for any use, as many do, but they are usually meant for cutting something. You can put it in, cut it or stab it, it'll still cut and this knife can be used in the wet, in the garage or for self defense and the stainless steel blade can pick it up and take it out. This is attractive due to the appearance of the boot, aided by dagger-pointed knives, with an expression of fear in those looking down at the shaft from the pointed end. It has a good balance that feels good in the hand in my opinion. The Old Timer name is a sort of homage to people like me, using knives wisely has been a part of my life, play and work. The sheath is thick leather that keeps the blade loose, rather than a tight-fitting sheath like many custom knife sheaths, and the sheath is almost invisible on the belt that sits in the back pocket of my jeans. For the price of $21.75 with a Prime membership, it was almost too much for me to resist. I will not abuse this knife by throwing it or messing with it, rather I will sharpen it to a razor blade and expect this knife to last the rest of my life, which shouldn't be forever as I am 63 years old now. Whether you're looking for a good shoemaker's knife, a utility knife, or just a good sheathed knife for cutting rope or the like, consider this knife your best bang for the buck. When it arrives and you pick it up, you're sure to love the feel and utility. I love my.
