Review on STAUBER Lexus Key Shell Replacement/NO Locksmith Required Using Your Old Key And Chip! Car Electronics & Accessories by Brian Nicholas

Great design, installation issues, probably user error

LX470 key, works like a charm. Don't believe all the one star reviews. Many of them appear to be user error and are posted by people who don't know how to work with basic hand tools. Take your time, pay attention to how your factory key disassembles and how it should fit into the new Stauber shell and you'll be fine. It's an easy replacement, but if you don't have mechanical skills you might have trouble. I had to pretty much destroy my already broken plastic sink to get the key. If your Srock transmitter does not have a battery cover (in the sink), the transmitter buttons will appear recessed when installed in the Stauber case. If your factory key and transmitter are 100% intact inside and you have performed the replacement correctly, the installation is perfect. You'll need a good set of tiny Phillips head screwdrivers to take your standard wrench apart. The duster kit includes the hex required for assembly. Good product.

Pros
  • Normal price
Cons
  • Low maintainability
