Review on ๐ŸŽฎ 8Bitdo Lite Bluetooth Gamepad for Switch Lite, Switch & Windows (Yellow Edition): Enhanced Gaming Experience for Nintendo Switch and PC Gamers by Phil Kowal

Perfect little controller

For a controller small enough to fit in a shirt pocket, the build quality of this thing is superb, which is to be expected from 8bitdo. All the keys are nice and clicky, as are the crosses. Even the L3 and R3 have their own very distinct click once you get used to it. The small R2 and L2 buttons are a bit odd, but not a huge problem once you get used to them. Now let's get to the main reason why this controller is so different and why you may or may not need it. "Can the Dpad replace an analog joystick, especially the right one?" The left DPad will probably be easy to get used to, but the right DPad can be a bit strange. The answer mostly depends on what kind of games you are playing and how fast they are. Smash Bro controller is not a controller. However, for games like Minecraft, Dragon Quest 11 and anything where the right stick is normally used to control the camera, the right dpad works just fine. I actually prefer his Minecraft stick as I find it easier to make small adjustments with the D-Pad than the stick. I even downloaded Doom with this controller and it was surprisingly easy to get used to using the right dpad to control the camera in this game. Mario Odyssey isn't really what this controller is made for, but I'd say it works great in about 80% of the games and for its tiny price, it's not bad at all. Give it a try, you might not want to come back!
