Simply makes perfect ice cream balls. These ice balls have no ridges or rings. This is the best ice cream maker I have ever used. I bought this in case I can make an ice cream ball that doesn't look like Saturn. The rings around the ice weren't that pretty and it would have been nice if the tray didn't splinter. I thought the way the two sections are held together would help, but this product goes further. 1) Very easy to fill. Built-in funnels draw water into the pan very easily. Also locks the expansion of the ice, forming a cone at the top of the ball that is easy to break. No more little protrusions preventing you from getting the perfect bullet. 2) The silicone part of the maker extends to the bottom half of the tray and prevents the tray from separating, which can lead to the formation of Saturn-shaped ice balls (ring). 3) The tabs make it easy to separate the tray, and a quick squeeze slides the ice balls out. Helps to wait a bit after you take them out of the freezer. The cube tray works well too, but it's a basic ice cube tray.
