Review on FDC Tactical Dog Collars - Heavy Duty Training Collars with Handle, Military Army Style, 1.5in Width, Plastic Buckle, TAG Hole - Suitable for Medium, Large, XL, XXL Breeds by Dana Wilson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Big, tough and military. Measure carefully, they are large.

As other reviewers have noted, this is a very durable dog collar. Materials and construction meet MIL-SPEC requirements. Materials: heavy nylon and high-impact molded plastic. The seams are heavy and the overall feel is very stiff. I'm not sure about the grip yet, but it certainly won't hurt. However, I have a few problems: Firstly, there is a small triangular attachment point for the leash. It's flimsy and plasticky and I expect it to fail. Not because of the stress of overusing the leash, but because a couple of Rhodesian Ridgeback puppies were chewing on it. These two little princesses chew EVERYTHING and will no doubt spend endless hours chewing each other's collars to shreds. Luckily I won't be tying these girls with FDC collars but with spiked collars so the tongues will last a little longer than usual. (If you have puppies that struggle with the leash with regular collars, try a barbarian collar. They look barbaric but the teeth mimic a mother dog's teeth and tend to calm the puppies down very quickly.Much better than choke chains which I consider barbaric.) My second issue is the size. I measured the collars of both puppies before ordering and they were both correct at 14 inches. These collars were listed as "L" (14"-16") in the Revain listing. Unfortunately the collars will not fit under 15 inches so they are too big and will be too big for puppies for at least a month or two. We'll try to install them in a few months and see how they work. Recommended so far.
