Purchased July 25, 2019. This works well for my recurring problem of coffee and/or milk boiling off and forming a hard brown ring on the hob. Before this sponge, I tried more, shall we say, malicious methods. Things like prickly green pads and a desperate attempt at a razor blade make me wince. This pad will not scratch the glass no matter how hard you rub it. But it will help get rid of those residues. If the material is hard, you will have to use some muscle power, but it helps a lot. In my experience, leaving the water on the residue for a while before scrubbing helps to soften it. Even if there are small scratches on the glass and residues get inside, this pad probably won't handle the shelf. I use baking soda along with the pad. I'm glad I now have something to grate with and know it won't damage the glass.
