Review on Kodak 1960988 ScanMate I940 Scanner by Christian Young

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A reliable scanner at an affordable price

If you're looking for a simple scanner to handle batches of documents, then this is it. Very easy to use right out of the box - unboxing took longer than the first scan and save. I went through a bunch of bills, receipts etc in less than an hour, about 100 pages. I could probably get through it quicker if I didn't have to undo the braces so often. The power supply comes with a range of adapters so you can take it anywhere; although it's not as small or light as purpose-built portable computers. The general build quality seems pretty solid. Access to the feed rollers and scanner displays is very easy, just open the service cover. The rollers even slide out easily to collect lint/hair/etc. to remove. who could get hurt. Other reviews mention the manual which doesn't explain the 9 different modes. To that I say download the included SmartTouch software. This software allows you to set up and change various modes, and its help file is a manual (PDF format). This manual can be downloaded from the Kodak website at http://graphics.kodak.com/DocImaging/US/en/Products/Document_Scanners/Desktop/SCANMATE_i940_Scanner/Support/User_Manuals/Smart_Touch_manual_v1_7/index.htm. Perfect for the home office or small business. It's not built for high volume like more expensive models, but it's great for the price.
