I recently purchased this backpack for weekend trips and have since used it as a personal item on board Spirit and United Airlines with 5 days of clothing (your mileage may vary. I brought sweatpants and warm clothing for the Chicago trip). I am completely satisfied with my purchase. The backpack has a decent layout in the compartments to maximize space utilization. For me, the backpack is very comfortable to carry even when fully loaded and can be extended by 2 cm if necessary. Note that the backpack was not open when I flew to Chicago. The only issue I had was that the main compartment inner mesh pocket ripped a bit around the zip after 2 rides. Although I may have overestimated the amount it can hold and it looks like I could still use it as is. (The bag is very thin in width) I would buy a second one again to have as a spare.
