Preferably ceramics, preferably coffee. I also use stainless steel and plastic. I prefer ceramics so I bought them. I use them for TRAVELING in the car with or without coffee. If you don't fill to the brim, that's fine (in my opinion). DO NOT drink from it with the lid on. You can see the lids will not fit even with the seal in place. You can only see that on the cover. Then I transport coffee with a lid. If I want to take a sip at a traffic light, I take the cap off and put it back on. If you are looking for a ceramic travel mug with a lid that you can drink from then this is not for you. If you can adapt and get by with a quality ceramic mug and lid that prevents spills when traveling, then fine. I HAVE a mug OR I hold it in one hand while driving. Just me again. Much luck. MB
