Maxpow tailgate supports are indeed better than factory stock. This is my second kit which I have just used on our 2008 Lexus RX350. It took me less than a minute to replace each one. Before the replacement, the tailgate would not open by itself or stay open. These new supports are very well made and very strong; even more than my OEMs. I also used a Maxpow (sold separately) to replace the hood pillars on a Dodge Ram 2500. I was not disappointed here either. You don't need to have mechanical skills to replace them, and the shop will easily charge you $150-$200 for the job. Order these and you won't regret it.
