This tripod is awesome. I bought a Nikon D7000 on December 26, 2014 and previously bought a $75 tripod here at Revain thinking I could save a few bucks. Well I was wrong. This tripod wasn't strong enough for my DSLR. My photography teacher told the class on the first night not to skimp on a quality tripod and he was 100% right. I chose this tripod and couldn't be happier. It's pretty hard; about 8# and it is very durable. The leg locks are very strong and there is no doubt that they are involved. The tripod is also very tall; before expanding the center, the head included in the kit can rotate and tilt very smoothly and silently. If you pull out the center bar and use it horizontally, it's also very strong. I just don't like this tripod; it's worth every penny. I am attaching two images of the moon taken with the D7000 and a 55-300mm lens. The first photo is with a cheap tripod and the second is from Manfrotto. difference in day and night; The Manfrotto image is closer and cropped much sharper, while the cheap tripod image is blurry due to camera shake. The proof is in the pudding (or pictures in this case). The included head rotates and tilts very smoothly and silently. If you pull out the center bar and use it horizontally, it's also very strong.
