The blue coating that makes these headlights blue is applied to the outside of the bulb and is water soluble. In other words, if you hang them outside the house as shown on the box, the blue coating will wash off, in my case it only lasted one holiday season. I have attached photos of flashlights I bought last year. I bought 1 skein after Christmas and never hung it up as it was after Christmas. Hang it up this year and to my surprise most of my lights are now white. As you can see in my photo, some of the lanterns at the top of the strand have been protected by the canopy so they're still a bit blue, but they too will be white by next year. Terrible design of this product, DO NOT BUY unless you want white light.
