Review on πŸ’ͺ Dorman 615-183 Engine Intake Manifold: Top-Rated Black Model for Select Cars of Various Makes by Jeremy Romero

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Easy install much quicker than an OEM install with a 10 month update which isn't so nice

Firstly everything you need is in the box and the Dorman branded gaskets are already properly installed. It's a little tricky to connect the harness to the MAP sensor as you have to do it "by touch" as they moved the MAP location to the back of the air intake. That's my minor complaint. My only major complaint is the black nipple that sits behind the throttle body on the intake. I hope the laws of physics keep it in place until I figure out how to permanently seal that port. The sum of these two complaints is debatable given how easy it was to install and reinstall the fuel rails. I love how they moved the PCV line to bring the oil closer to the throttle body. It just makes sense to place the overflow next to the incoming airflow. I also like Dorman pads so I was wondering how they would work. Design of the entire intake. I was neither disappointed nor lacking in intrigue. Easy installation, quality material and most importantly; 10mm screw heads to mount the intake manifold back onto the cylinder heads! 8 mm for foil and battery clamps. Obtain. Enjoy it. When you're done, listen to your Tahoe purr like a kitten. 10 month update. And away we go! The Tahoe ran great for 10 months, then had catastrophic failures due to cheap parts. I am in the midst of numerous fuel leaks due to cheap parts. to this entry. Where the injector guides dangle in the intake, the studs "pop out" and guess where the fuel goes? Everywhere, everywhere, everywhere. because they melt. I'm trying to replace the inserts with Steelstik and rivets to survive the winter. I will then clean and replace the original air intake as the engine is now vibrating like a paint mixer. Result? It's a cheap part that works well and then starts to fall apart. I no longer recommend Dorman parts unless it's for someone I don't like.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Piggy bank price
