For a smaller device than the one I had many years ago, it worked just as well if not better, automatically turning on in the dark and turning off at dawn. I put it on a plant stand on the covered patio very close to the outlet as the cord was quite short. I knew I had a problem with flying insects but wow it was a continuous crackling click that blew away mosquitoes, ephemera, moths and anything else the light attracted. Not the easiest of maintenance but did the job perfectly. I would recommend this product for indoor/outdoor use as I didn't have a sealed pile of dead bugs but they were in the unit. Added note: A can of air from a can is great for blowing off stuck insects. Make sure you reset the base first.
