A built-in error that guarantees a possible failure.

I just bought this boiler to replace my previous one which broke down. Although the device is very easy to install and good value for money, its design (assuming it hasn't been changed in 5 years) is almost guaranteed to be broken. Although the boiler and heating element are made of stainless steel, it has a water inlet flange. a plastic tank bottom sealed with an O-ring and secured to the bottom of the tank with a 1 1/4" flanged nut. This nut, while nice and shiny, is probably cast iron or zinc and makes direct contact with a stainless steel boiler tank.Any moisture getting into the contact area between this nut and the stainless steel tank will cause the nut to corrode, and this corrosion will eventually cause the nut to fail and cause a serious leak.Although it took about 5 Years if simple measures had been taken to prevent dissimilar metal contact the boiler would most likely have lasted another 10 years. The problem would have been simple and cheap for the manufacturer. All that was needed was a very cheap thin dielectric Washer (i.e. plastic) between the flange nut and the stainless steel boiler I can't imagine that such a washer increases the cost of manufacture by even a penny. bottom line. The boiler has a very good value for money and is easy to install. It would have gotten 5 stars if the manufacturer hadn't built in a guaranteed potential design flaw.
