Best Color Ever

*updated September 2017 I started dying my hair bright colors when I was twelve and have tried almost every brand for the past twenty two years. Pravana is by far the most durable color option. (I sometimes use Joico, Arctic Fox, and Sparks, but they don't stay in my hair that long). Ionic colors are not worth using and by far the worst I've tried. If you want great results, use great products. Morrocanoil is my favorite for post-bleach hydration, as is Olaplex 1 and 2. My favorite shampoos are Oribe, Kerastase, and Caviar. I use Batiste dry shampoo (it doesn't remove much color, is inexpensive, and works so well I only wash my hair once a week). I have a routine and products and as a result I can cut my hair over and over again but it still stays shiny and healthy. I usually only touch up the colors once a month and it's just to hydrate and add shine, not because the colors have faded. Pastel colors require more maintenance and I revise them every week/fortnight depending on the shade. Dark colors don't require my hair to be pre-lightened to nine or ten tones, but I prefer my hair to be pre-lightened to a color that's at least a banana peel's color. Platinum hair as a base equates to a beautiful fade when your colors start to fade. Instead of ugly brassy colors, you have beautiful pastel colors. I smear my hair with coconut oil the night before bleaching (I like Schwartzkopf developer and use Forty) and the next day I apply the bleach directly to the oiled hair. I don't think adding Olaplex 1 to the developer does much. However, after rinsing the bleach out in cold water, I apply Olaplex 1 (don't shampoo the bleach, just rinse it out). I squeeze out the excess water and Olaplex mixture, then add Olaplex 2. This is left overnight. In the morning I wet my hair and put Morrocanoil on it. It seems like a lot of product but through trial and error I found a great way to keep my super processed hair strong and beautiful. I let everything sit for at least a few hours or again overnight. (During this process I wear hats and remove my hair to leave the house - there is nothing to be ashamed of in my game). I rinse and wash in cold water over the sink and don't use conditioner as I need to either bleach again or add Pravana. I have to wash the color twice as my hair is dark, level 3 so the whole process repeats itself again. Dilute the Pravana colors with regular conditioner to create your own shades and pastels. After rinsing, do not use shampoo, simply rinse with cold water to minimize color fading. Leave your hair unwashed for about a week to make the color last longer. The green color of Pravana is not green. This is teal. If you want green you can mix your own shades by using yellow (regular or neon depending on how bright you want to go) as a base and adding a small amount of blue. Arctic fox has some nice shades of green, but they don't stay in my hair that long. Pravan Silver Toner is an amazing toner that lasts indefinitely if you want an ash blonde but you have to cut it with just over half the conditioner. total mix. (The super easy pattern I added, I used silver as the toner by mixing 1 part Pravana and 2 and a half parts conditioner.) Happy coloring! If you have any questions, I'm also happy to help.
