Review on πŸ“± LG Velvet 5G G900UM 128GB AT&T GSM Unlocked Phone 6.8" - Versatile Silver Smartphone for an Enhanced 5G Experience! by Doug Bundy

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great phone for the price.

Excellent phone, especially for such a price. Removing all AT&T apps that came with the unlocked phone (they can't actually be removed, just disable them to hide them) and stopping apps from installing automatically was a bit of a chore, but after stopping the Auto- Download and install random apps. The phone works great. For the first 2 days I multitasked, ran multiple apps, watched videos and listened to lots of music to test the battery's drain rate and its tendency to heat up. The results were impressive: no heat, barely warm and the battery drain rate was acceptable for a 5G network. The battery lasted all day despite extreme multitasking. The stereo speakers play great music. I can even hear the instruments separating - that's how good the speaker fades are. The reason for the lower price is that it doesn't come with a dual-screen body that sells for $150-$200. Update: After using this phone for a few months, I was wondering if I would receive security updates for this phone through my T-Mobile service. It turns out the answer is no. LG informed me that to get security updates (including an Android 10 to Android 11 upgrade) you need to do the following: Purchase a SIM card from the phone's original service provider (the phone's original carrier is AT&T) to receive updates and get the latest Android version. Change the SIM card every time 1 want to check if the phone software is up to date. So I have to buy a SIM card from the phone service provider (about $4). Then activate the service on that SIM card for 1 day, which costs $2 per day. Don't wait more than 24 hours for that original provider to activate the original provider's SIM card. Then go to the phone settings to download phone software updates. Change your new carrier's SIM card (I have T-Mobile) after installing the updates. Something to think about when someone is thinking of buying an unlocked phone with the intention of using it with a cellular service that differs from their pre-unlocked provider.
