YEAR 1 UPDATE: Still on! These shocks are absolutely stronger than the original and even a year later when I open the hood I'm amazed at how quickly they lift and hold the hood open. I still highly recommend them. REVIEW: This is a great replacement for stock hood struts. After about 10 years my original ones in my 2008 OEM Acura TL were no longer holding the hood. One day I opened the hood to check my battery and the hood almost fell on my head! INSTALLATION: All you need is a thin flathead screwdriver to install them. I used a piece of wood to hold the hood open while I pulled them off one at a time. You simply stick a screwdriver under the clip on the old ones, remove and then install the new ones. After I installed 1 it was strong enough to hold the hood to install the second but I still left my safety piece of wood to hold the hood. The whole installation took maybe 1-2 minutes and I took my time. They seem stronger and more powerful than the OEM models I remember when I first got the new car. I've opened and closed the hood several times over the past 2 days to make sure they fit and I'm very satisfied. Time will tell how they hold up. I will update this review in the future if they start to falter or fail prematurely.
