I know. The blue version of this hammer works just as well as this sleek leather-handled version and costs about $10 less. BUT when I made the Eagle Scout, my parents gave me an Estwing hatchet with the same leather handle. By the way, 25 years later I still have that axe. Over the decades, skin has aged to a deep, rich tan. So when it came time to replace my old, rusty hammer, I couldn't resist the leather-handled version. Nostalgia? Of course why not? You just can't go beyond these bands! Each version of this hammer will serve you for a lifetime. Feel, fit and finish are exceptional. Note. The leather grip version is slightly heavier than the synthetic blue grip version.
