Updated review. Nicely made cleaner that has done a good job on some jewelry, especially when used without the plastic basket. I added some detergent to the water which helped clean the jewelry. I tried some tarnished silver and removing the tarnish didn't help. Even heavily oxidized copper pennies were not cleaned. I suppose it depends on the type of dirt you want to remove with it. Loose dirt and fingerprints can be removed very easily, but tarnished or oxidized items require a more aggressive cleaning. (I find that there are ultrasonic cleaning solutions that claim to remove tarnish and heavier dirt, but I haven't tried them.) As the manual states, the plastic basket absorbs enough ultrasonic energy that the unit doesn't clean properly. aggressive. The vacuum cleaner worked much better without the basket. I'm only keeping the 4 star rating because some cleaners come with baskets that don't affect cleaning performance that much.
