Review on 🔧 Kreg Tool Co. SML C2X250 30-Pocket by Josh Allen

I have used Kreg mounts for many years including longer bolts when using 2x stock. While these joints were strong, they didn't play in the same league as frame joints or a proper nail plan. A definite step forward, these new HD screws offer a 2-way connection, especially in corners, that is superior to nails or even most screws. I would rather compare it to bolts or screw connectors. In fact, it's strong enough that small problems with saws are noticeable. My practice project with them was a window sill with storage and the screws kept pulling the frame a bit out of square. I'll be damned if my miter saw was even a degree wrong. You might find that you can't mumble as many incantations as you wait for those bolts to fully tighten until most of the frame is assembled. As with the smaller screws, remember that this process does not create initial holes in the second piece of material. So if you're attaching very close to the edge and you get cracks, you'll need to make those holes. By partially tightening the screws, mark this process well. The mount works almost exactly like the original (and mini) and fits on a stand or stretcher. The difference is that there is no material thickness adjustment here, but is set to 2x boards. Haven't tried it yet, but it will probably work fine for drilling a 4x4 post or larger.
