The user manual doesn't tell you too much except how to install the app and use the remote control. But it's easy enough to connect. One cable connects to the base with the USB symbol and the other end to the USB port. I used my TV. However, you can use a computer or a computer plugged into a power outlet with a USB port. Then there are 3 lightbulb symbols. They connect the light to the second two. The first remains empty. You can use the lights standing up using the base where the cables are connected as well as the other stand included in the kit. Or you can mount them behind your TV, monitor or the wall using the included brackets and double-sided tape. When hanging on the wall, you can use the screw holes, but the screws are not included. To use the remote control, the base station needs to be near some speakers and where the infrared sensor can see the remote control. Otherwise, it will not receive any signal from the remote control and may not hear any sound either. But if you use the app, it doesn't matter. It connects with Bluetooth. The app allows you to play music straight from your phone. However, when you use the base itself, it picks up any sounds it hears nearby, even a conversation. You can also just turn on the light without recording any sound at all. Just turn it on to set the mood. It's your decision. You can turn it on or off at the base itself or with the remote control. Also note that the cables aren't very long, but I used them on my 55" TV and they were enough to fit on either end of the TV and still connect to the base.
