Dark roasted beans make a mess

UPDATE 03/18/2021: bottom fell out. After a few months of use, the bottom of the coffee grounds container literally fell off and crashed onto the floor while grinding. A waste of expensive coffee beans, luckily not much was completed, and a very unexpected downside. I've never taken apart a coffee grinder so I didn't expect the base/lid to fall off. Strangely, there seems to be a small number of grooves built into the bottom edge to reattach the piece, but there's no way to unscrew it at first. So that tells me it's just a poorly made grinder, which is obvious after some use, but not by much. I resorted to duct tape on the underside to keep the piece 'safe', but let's see how long that lasts. If you are interested in a durable, high quality coffee grinder I would look elsewhere. At this price, this grinder shouldn't have those quality issues. -------- Generally a good manual coffee grinder with a small capacity. The stainless steel burrs ensure a fairly consistent grind (still a bit of an uneven grind in the mix). I'm definitely going further than the included manual in terms of how many clicks you should tighten the burrs. I really wish there was some sort of indicator at the bottom to track clicks, but with manual coffee grinders that's a luxury. The real problem I have with this grinder is that the darker roasted beans get seriously static and therefore trying to pour the grounds into my paper filter gets pretty messy. The included brush should of course help with this, but a lot of coffee simply sticks to the surface of the vessel even after a few taps to squeeze it out. This problem is less common with lighter roast beans, especially specialty coffees that are not typically over-roasted. I prefer coffee, but I can't always get my hands on it. So if I just use beans from the supermarket, that static gets pretty annoying. Countertop clutter, extra time to clean up, so I patted the coffee grinder a little. If I had known this problem existed I would have tried a different product.
