Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Compact DEWALT Brushless Drill Driver by Curtis Kincade

Great drill, terrible chuck

Tried 4 of these drills. They are light and very powerful. However, the ammo on all 4 was garbage. Overflow is too big. Also, they are riveted and cannot be replaced without significant risk of damaging the drill. If you set the drill to 2 levels and give it full throttle, the whole drill will vibrate in your hand. You can see the cartridge swinging. If only they used the DCD991 chuck they would have the perfect drill. Blade tip runout is approximately 1/8+ inch depending on tip length. This is not a defect, all 4 drills (2 Amazons and 2 HD) did it. In comparison, DCD991 chucks are perfect for my large drill press. I want to love this thing but every time I use it I remember how much I dislike the cartridge. I expect electric drills to work properly in 2019. My cheap $30 disposable HF drill bits have less wear and tear than this model (sad but true). So I'm sticking with my DCD991. It's heavy and overkill for most jobs, but at least it doesn't annoy me.
