I really like using this with my royal frosting on fancy decorated cookies. I use it to pull the frosting to the edges and to pop bubbles in my frosting. It is much more precise compared to using a tooth pick. The scriber needle cleans off easily. I wipe it off with a damp paper towel in between cookies and clean it with soap/water when I am done decorating. It is very sharp - be careful! The scriber tool comes with a rubber cover for the needle so you won't accidentally poke yourself taking it out of storage.
