Review on πŸš— Autowbrake: Trailer-Mounted Electric Brake Controller for Easy Towing by Thimothy Purnell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Hard to tell what setup it has

I bought this to replace a broken inbuilt brake controller in my truck. It was easy enough to install. I give 3 stars for two reasons. My biggest complaint is the latency that comes with this system. There is about a second delay in both applying and releasing pauses. This is very annoying when driving with frequent stops and when maneuvering the trailer in tight spots. Basically, you stop using the truck's brakes and then have to wait for the trailer's brakes to release before you can start moving again. My second complaint is the lack of visibility of the current settings. There are three braking modes you can set on the controller and it will indicate this by flashing an LED. However, once you are in a mode, you are said to have 6 levels of customization in that mode, which are not shown anywhere. I can't tell the difference when setting up with the remote, so wondering if you're doing it right. The manual says to apply pauses and then press up or down on the remote. No feedback on the remote or controller. I would happily recommend it, but I think a cheaper brake controller is still cheaper. UPDATE: Rating increased to 4 stars. It turned out that the delay was due to my hydraulic pump instead of the electric one.
