Review on Nexus Escape 150 Watt Inverter PAD1500 by Brian Quenzer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

good, but it doesn't require at least a couple of secondary batteries that work in other EGO products.

I haven't had a power outage to really test this unit but I did some static testing and it works fine on my desktop. This is bought primarily to have a power source in the dead of winter when the gas generator is running outside which is problematic at -10 F starting problems that a gas generator would have. Living in Vermont, it's not uncommon to experience a few days of power outages every winter. I'm glad to see there's a solar option now, but that option doesn't seem very practical in its current form, which is why I haven't bought one yet. EGO is the leader in the high power portable battery industry in my opinion, so I'm waiting for a solar option that can run separate from the generator (allowing you to charge the batteries while using the generator, which isn't possible with the power configuration , as far as I understand). I gave it 4 stars as it doesn't work with the aftermarket batteries I use in my other EGO products. They were cheaper, charged well with the original charger, and also worked well with my EGO chainsaw and grass catcher. When I connect one of the aftermarket batteries the alternator puts a red marker with an explanation and does not recognize that battery although I can connect it to my other devices and they work fine. Some aftermarket batteries now say in their ads that they are alternator powered, but I'm nervous about spending a lot of money and not actually working, so I haven't bought any yet. I have enough original batteries to fill the generator but these are small units that come with the original power supplies so I need to do something soon if I want to extend the run time of the generator.

Pros
  • Starters, Chargers & Portable Power Supplies
Cons
  • Good but not great
