Our very stubborn pup found a way to get under and around his sides within the first hour of our trip. However, with some proper adjustment and padding, it worked. In our car (Ford Escape), it didn't quite go from the ceiling to the center console, so setting it to ceiling level meant our dog could crawl under it. If your dog is skinny or determined enough to slip inside, even with wings outstretched to the walls of the car, there are still windows that can pass between the passenger/driver's seat shoulder and the wall. However, it was quick to install and fairly robust. Ideal in combination with one of the seat protection curtains that hang down from the seats and can block the rest of the aisles.
