Review on Garmin RV 780 GPS Navigator with Real-time Traffic Updates by Mike Anderson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Instantly becomes a paperweight.

I have not used this item. You see, I called a Garmin RV specialist because I live in an RV. It arrives ready to use - perfect! - and as soon as he connected to our mobile network, he immediately said that he wants to update, and I said that everything was fine. The problem is that at that point it will immediately erase the map data on the device - then attempt to download more than 7GB of map data - and that download doesn't support renewal. So if you're trying to upgrade that RV GPS module and don't have a fantastic internet connection - like the ones you have in an RV - then you've just turned your device into an expensive paperweight. Now I can't use this device for anything else until I find a sufficiently stable internet connection to download more than 7GB without interruption. As an internet pro, I can tell you that you shouldn't include a resume in uploads of this size. Laziness and myopia of developers. Otherwise, the characteristics of the device look as I need them - I look forward to somehow updating and using it in the near future. To update. After four hours online with their tech support they are unable to update the device. This is a paperweight. The Garmin website and support was so bad I wouldn't even consider buying from them again. Buy something else. ONE MORE THING!
