Review on Spectre Performance 4809 Air Filter by Andrew Carrao

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent quality to replace OEM

I originally bought 2 of these filters for my 1935 Studebaker Rat Rod which has a '53 Chevy 235ci. Engine fitted by the original manufacturer. During tuning I noticed that the stock filter was dirty and when it was removed the engine revs increased slightly so I decided to take a few with me to have a spare on hand. When they arrived I put one in, but noticed that installing the filter still affected RPM, so I tried putting a second filter on top of the first to increase airflow into the carb. This helped, but I still noticed a RPM drop when closing the lid. Just to try it out I ordered 2 more filters and added them one by one to see if that would help and it did. My situation/engine is unique and I think the filters themselves are of decent quality. My setup just requires more airflow than this little filter actually allows. For a smaller carburetor, engine or OEM application this would be great. Unfortunately I can't find any 4" filters over 2" so I have to stack them on top of each other to get the right air volume for my setup. Luckily the odd look matches the rest of my cars.
