Review on πŸ’ͺ Distribute Channels with the MINIMOD 2 MODULATOR: A Powerful Solution by Hesham Peltier

HD modulator - is it really HD?

I have a main antenna system at home. I have professional amplifiers to boost signals for distribution. The antenna connectors are balanced to provide the best possible signal for my local televisions. I bought a Minimod-2 to distribute the HDMI signal from my DirecTV satellite receiver to other TVs in the house. Secondary TVs are TVs in places like our office or gym where the TV is smaller and not used as often as the TV in our office or home theater. Minimum-2 seemed like the perfect answer to this problem, especially since I didn't want to continue supporting AT&T with their ever-increasing DirecTV costs. Getting rid of numerous DirecTV receivers each month saved some money. We already have an entire home audio system with IR repeaters in almost every room, and these repeaters allow you to control remote devices like a DirecTV receiver. Basically everything worked great. I previously had a low resolution modulator that was discontinued many years ago, but most importantly I had an injection point in my main antenna system. Disappointed with the picture quality. It is significantly worse than the direct HDMI input. I thought that a number is a figure, but I suppose something becomes an analogue somewhere. I can even see slight shadows, making it look like a fuzzy analog TV picture. I thought the HDMI cable might be the problem, so I bought the best HDMI cable, who could find it. The new cable didn't change anything either. I even tested the modulator's output directly to the TV and still saw exactly the same picture quality. I wouldn't say the quality is bad, but it's not as clean and crisp as HDMI direct from a DirecTV receiver. If I had another option in my already wired home, I would use HDMI over CAT6 for each of the TVs and forget about the modulator. In a fresh install, HDMI over CAT6 will be significantly better, but with 10-100 TVs, HDMI over CAT6 isn't practical. In a new home that is already connected to CAT6, HDMI over CAT6 might be the best option. Perhaps the next generation modulator will have a better picture. d HDMI over CAT6 for each of the TVs and I would forget the modulator.
