It's worth it.

I don't usually write reviews, but I think this product deserves it, installation was a little difficult, HD video output, so some old VGA monitors don't work, and some old RCA monitors don't work. I can't try HDMI so can't talk to it but once you have the system set up you can set the resolution to a slightly lower level and it works with the old monitor I had. Cameras I have tried and I have a Hikvision IP camera. In combination with the HD camera, the quality is excellent. Your branded dome camera is a good choice. I installed it about 15 feet below the roof overhang and you can read license plates from about 50 feet. Setting up the ip camera is very easy, the device found my hikvision right away, just make sure you select your camera type in the menu or ip camera, if your brand is not listed just enter your username and password one and it's ready to go. Remote browsing on a local computer is easy, just enter the IP address of DRV in the address bar, in Firefox you will be prompted to download the script, select "Yes" and once downloaded, launch the program, close and reopen Firefox and Go to the IP address of the NVR and a pop-up window asking you to start it, select Always and then refresh the page. Now you can log in with your username and password and no longer have to go through all those close, open and refresh steps. From the local computer, you can view and change the DVR settings as live on the DVR. However, the mobile app works great on the Galaxy S5, I couldn't read the QR code. So if you write down the serial number, you can manually enter it into the app and it will connect and you can view and adjust it in real-time. camera video settings like brightness and contrast from your phone, but you can't change DVR settings remotely, local video recording is allowed on your phone, but remote quality is not as good as DVR. I haven't managed to get the computer to work remotely yet. I keep getting offline device error but I don't know that the wireless IP camera also works, it's just a DVR that needs a wired connection to your modem, router or switch. In general, if you can set up a wireless printer, you can set up this dash cam, a quick guide will help you record for 5 minutes, and after about an hour you can call all channels, work with email and set up motion detection, set up alarm responses and start the remote display. If you have a DVR, struck by lightning, I strongly recommend installing built-in surge protection. Amazon conveniently sells an 8 channel protector (I bought 2 because I used to use a 16 channel DVR).
