The part I have on hand is an old pressure relief valve I found in my engine. The video shows the problem. The engine was difficult to start and stopped turning. This new camshaft has an intact compression clutch that is engaged and disengaged by centrifugal force. I swapped the camshaft and solved the problem. You will also need a new crankcase gasket. You can also replace the vertical shaft seal at the same time. It is recommended to pre-clean the motor with a magnet. If it's not obvious, pay attention to timestamps when installing. The dots on the gears should be next to each other. Edit: My 17.5 Briggs now has a cracked block. However, this part is beautiful and intact. The timing broke in half and they hit and cracked in a hole in the block, destroying the engine. I'm adding this as a note, it might be a good idea to swap out the timing gear and both cylinder tappets while you're at it.
