DO NOT BUY THIS CARAFE

Advantages: ● Glass liner does not alter the taste of the contents ● Glass-coated vacuum insulator is very effective; keeps warm for several hours. Cons: ● Zojirushi America is a company that doesn't say goodbye to its flawed product. ● The lid cannot be washed and cleaned properly. ● A design flaw in the lid means that it no longer works (stays open) after several months of regular use ● The pouring stream is uneven; sprays the other way you pour ● Impossible to pour out the rest of the contents without removing the lid ● Doesn't hold 2 liters, only 1.85 liters (advertised as such) ● Brushed steel coating doesn't fit tight to seam ; poor design ● The swivel at the base is annoying but of no real value to me; although some people may like the rotating base. Zojirushi America sells this decanter as a poor quality product and does not endorse it at all. Aside from not being able to clean it, this carafe's lid has a serious design flaw that causes it to fail after only a few months of use. This is undetectable for the first 30 days while Revain takes care of it. After 30 days you have to go to the manufacturer and they don't take care of it. The lid, which is already a disadvantage because it cannot be washed but only rinsed, has a cork that opens and closes, is activated by a button on the carafe. act. The problem is that after a few months of use, the mechanism inside the cap that gradually opens and closes it becomes crooked within a few months, reaching the point where the cork opens so crookedly that it gets stuck in the open position . Then you cannot close it with the Open/Close button. This is a fatal flaw in the design of the lid. When it gets to that point, the only way to close it is to actually unscrew and remove the cap, then physically tap the cork. This pulls it out of its stuck position and an internal spring closes it. This is unacceptable product performance and the company should at least replace the cap. The company won't do it. But even if they do, it won't solve the long-term problem of the same thing happening every cap change after a few more months of use. If you purchase this product you are doomed to failure due to a design flaw and then the insult added to injury when the company does not endorse the product. First, you can't clean it. This is a pressing problem even before first use, but pales in comparison to the fact that at some point the cap simply stops working. Another design flaw of the closure is the fact that the coffee is channeled through a covered channel that is not accessible for cleaning. There is no way to clean this carafe. Can only be washed. You can run a detergent through to remove coffee residue and then rinse it. But there's no way to get a sponge or brush into all affected areas, so you can't wash it, just rinse it off. This is bad design. Unfortunately, many companies' decanters suffer from a similar inability to clean up the design. You cannot pour liquid if the spout is tilted beyond the horizontal position. This will allow liquid to leak into other parts of the lid that are not connected to the channel leading to the spout, causing the coffee to spill out of other holes in the lid. on the counter, on the floor or on you. Not good. And since not all of the contents pour out of the carafe without sloshing over the horizontal, you'll have to remove the lid to pour out the rest of the contents. Bad design too. The glass container inside is good; small but good. But why they designed a container that doesn't even hold 2 liters I have no idea. It's uncomfortably too small. After preparing 2 liters of coffee, only the first 1.85 liters fit into the pot. The remaining 0.15 liters I either have to use right away or just dump down the drain, and with my expensive coffee, dumping is a tragedy. I make specialty coffee that I buy from the coffee farmers association in Colombia. . Coffee is shipped from various small plantations across the country to the main plantation, roasted on the main plantation and shipped to customers around the world via FedEx. This coffee has been made affordable through their organization and processes, but in the end it's still quite expensive. Sometimes I make a 2 liter batch that costs almost $34. For every liter of coffee I use 80 grams of beans, so 160 grams for a 2 liter batch. The most expensive coffees are typically around 21 cents per gram times 160 grams for $33.60 per batch. A more typical coffee costs about 7 cents per gram. Much cheaper, about $11.20 per batch, but still not cheap. So I need a carafe or other non-stainless steel dispenser to hold that expensive coffee. For some reason, stainless steel decanters use steel to give them their own metallic flavor. Completely unacceptable. I still don't understand why that is. I use a gooseneck stainless steel kettle and strainer, which add no properties to the steel. But the decanters seem to use a different steel. So my carafes/dispensers should be made of glass. This carafe is made of glass, albeit too small. So you can keep coffee hot for many hours. The glass lining is the only advantage of this decanter. But a carafe without a lid is no good. In the case of built-in defects in the lid, all the advantages of the glass paneling are nullified. I paid $52.46 for this decanter. It's absolutely not worth the money for a fraction of this price if after a few months the item breaks and the manufacturer, Zojirushi America, refuses to refund the purchase. I recommend staying away from this poorly designed product completely. , and save yourself the agony and heartache of dealing with Zojirushi America when the product ultimately fails.
