I bought my new build home a little over a year ago and couldn't understand why contractor Beazer placed the shower drain so high. Well, I didn't really care, and didn't even bother to ask about it during my meeting with the contractor. Yes, I have no problem getting in the shower, but if I had a little guest (and I am), I wouldn't get in the shower. I knew pipe extensions existed so I bought them and installed them in my guest bathroom. It's stainless steel, so a bit heavier than I'd like, but I'm not really keen on expensive fancy heavy showerheads as long as they handle high water pressure well, so I didn't mind. the weight. Very easy to install. It even comes with Teflon thread wrapping tape to seal the connection and a basic wrench good enough that a novice plumber can't turn it over.
