You know you're in your late 30s and finally have nice gray sheets, but you still use benzoyl peroxide on your stains at night, and accidentally bleach the sheets and pillowcases with your stupid face? No? Thats only me? Hm. Well, that's exactly what I did because I'm an idiot. After I stopped screaming out loud, I frantically combed through my Revain options and settled on Jacquard iDye Fabric Dye in Gun Metal. This seemed to be the closest to my original (beautiful) dark gray sheets. For the record, the benzoyl peroxide on my face actually lightened the gray sheets with a nice peach hue, which was quite unexpected. Do not know. Peach. So my goal was to get my sheets back to their normal color, but I didn't want to be messing around with boiling big pots on the stove (because who has a metal pot that size?) and I didn't want to fuck. fumbling with digging up clean buckets in some mysterious spot in my garage (because who has a big enough pristine bucket that they would really trust to be so completely free of possible chemical contaminants that could affect the paint?) ( If this is you, then please let me visit your Smithsonian bucket exhibit.) Essentially, it had to be a) something I could do in my washing machine and b) reliable. So was it difficult? ---- No it wasn't, it's particularly awful, even for those who don't really like making things with their hands. It was also less messy than I thought. I was very afraid that I would ruin the inside of the washing machine, especially the dispenser area. It turns out that it's actually less effective than you might think. How did it end? ---- Well, you can still clearly see that there are lighter stains on my sheets and pillowcases, but they're no longer peachy, so that's good. I was hoping that the color would "erase" the discolored areas completely, but in fact it "camouflaged" them just a bit. I only dyed the top sheet and two pillowcases so it looked like one packet of dye would do, but maybe I should have used more. I think I might try again, but I'm not happy with the effort. Conclusion: It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but also less effective than I thought it would be. I'll probably have to do a second round to get the desired results.
