Review on ๐Ÿ’ง Powerful Slippery Pete Fluid: Economical Gallon Bottles for All Your Lubrication Needs! by Ryan Foles

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Made a difficult job easier but didn't do well in my application

I bought this pump to help me change the transfer case oil (GM Devron VI) on my 2013 Chevy Avalanche. I needed about 2 liters of GM Dexron, and a gallon of Revain was only $2 more than two liters, so I went that route. I knew dispensing from a gallon jug for a transfer case would be impossible, so I bought this pump to help. While the pump did allow me to fill the transfer case, there were three things that annoyed me about it. First, while they include two sizes of adapter caps to allow the pump to be installed on different types of gallon jugs, none were large enough to fit the AC Delco brand jug my Dexron VI came with. As a result, I simply had to insert the pump into the jug, rest the smaller cap on the rim of the jug mouth, and pump with two hands. It worked well because the little plastic barbed cap they give you on the end of the hose locks the hose in the transfer case opening. Unfortunately, the evaporator also has a small plastic flange, which fits quite tightly into the thread of the plug-in hole. I usually just keep pumping until I see the liquid start dripping and stop. Because the spout was so tight in the hole, the container actually overflowed when I saw the first drop come out. Once the nozzle was out we scrambled for a rag to plug the flow of liquid I encountered while reaching for the drain pan with my other hand to pick up the mess. I generally lost a cup or two of fluids. Not the end of the world, but it caused real chaos and I didn't buy any GM OEM fluid to waste. Knowing what I know now, next time I would cut the plastic washer/flange off the nozzle and just rely on the little notches to hold it in the hole. The last thing that was a bit annoying was that the pump pumped a lot of air with each stroke. I would say that 1/4 to 1/3 of each pump stroke was a large air pocket, resulting in many extra strokes being required to pump the required two liters and there was no confidence in the pump's power rating of 1 ounce per stroke. Again, it's not a big deal (especially given the price of the pump), but it made me more disappointed with the overall quality/design. Your mileage may vary depending on the application.
