Works great on Windows (Linux forget) and it really is a Realtek 8812BU for driver downloads!

This is an amazing device and I became very familiar with these devices last fall when the wired network where I work went down and we had to buy USB dongles for the desktops that our couldn't use wireless network (which was fine). I found that all the unnamed brands I used (which are $15 each, not $60 for big brands) usually worked fine without having to install drivers (which weren't provided and downloaded could). However, some of them didn't work or worked on some systems and didn't work on others, which was a huge problem. The reason I wanted to try this at home was because my home internet service can be iffy and I have a really great Verizon hotspot that my laptops can use when my usual service is bad but my desktop isn't. I tried one of the "no drivers required" we use at work and it wasn't even recognized. When I heard that this one came with a driver I decided to give it a try. A few reviewers said they didn't get the MD, and at first I *thought* I didn't either until I realized mine was in the plastic and in between. Pages of a very small paper booklet with instructions. (And by small, I mean 3 square inches.) I did as instructed (and there's a PDF on the CD, which is easier to read than a little booklet), and while it took a while, the process worked. However, my system didn't ask for a reboot, so I did it anyway and plugged in the device, and here's what you need to know: When I plugged it in, Windows immediately saw it and started looking for drivers. Since they were installed I told him to stop, ignoring "device may not work" and in fact he immediately started using the correct drivers. It's also important to know that CHUYI only sells these things, but their name is nowhere to be found, except a small sticker on the plastic packaging. So if there is no hard drive, don't worry and don't contact them. The device is "Realtek 8812BU Wireless LAN 802.11ac USB NICE" and if you google the first two parts of the name, you will find the Realtek website with the driver/utility. It's a 50MB file but the utility software that comes with it is really good and much better than the regular one. In case you want to use this with Linux, although I said it supports Linux and there are drivers for it on the CD, they are not for this model ("B") but for the previous model "A". " model. It seems possible to use this with the latest versions of Linux, but not without a great deal of effort, and I would suggest to search for another device. Overall the device works well and at $21 (with all the prices for these things bloated due to shortages due to people working from home in our age of COVID) this is a gem. I'll buy a pair for work and throw them away. It seems possible to use this with the latest versions of Linux, but not without a lot of hassle and I would suggest looking for another device.
