Toshiba D-R400 on DVD Players and Recorders

Pros: This is my second home DVD recorder and I haven't noticed any glitches with Toshiba. The price of 140 for this quality is excellent. It reads every DVD from every recorder I've tried, including those that other players and recorders can't read. It offers great editing flexibility, including a way to cut out unwanted sections of your program. I have a 47" HD TV and the HDMI output works fine in HD modes, this recorder does a good job of upconverting. Cons: Editing the header is a bit lame and time-consuming, although it works correctly. The remote control is completely black. and complicated, which sometimes makes it difficult to find the right buttons. Different DVD-Rs, DVD+Rs, and DVD+RWs are oddly limited in their range of burning menus, depending on the type of disc you're using. RW has full functionality in the menu. I don't know if only the DR400 or others have these limitations. You don't have a PC. My old ILO DVD burner didn't work from the start. Read the manual to see what I'm talking about. Conclusion: The best home entertainment DVD burner I've seen that rivals a PC in terms of functionality, speed and software aside. I think this product is sold out and I'm glad I got a new one.
