Good Toshiba product! So far a very good registrar.

I replaced a Samsung DVD-R135 with this Toshiba D-R400 recorder and I have to say. It's way better than the DVD burner it replaced. Yes it may not have a built in tuner but when plugged into my digital cable box it scales everything. You can swear all TV stations have started broadcasting in high definition, it's that good on standard digital channels. The recording was excellent, I can't fault what channels I was able to record, even HBO included it without hesitation. By the way, it is…

Ease of use, compatibility and good up-conversion

I bought this device about 3 months ago and am very happy with it. The module is relatively easy to use (although my application is quite simple). Basically I was looking for a recorder that would allow me to archive shows from my DVR to DVD. After setup, I double click the play button on my DVR and the record button (for a 30 minute show) and walk away. The upconversion is pretty good. In fact, I've stopped using my other DVD player because the picture from this player looks very good (for…

Great product for DVD recorders

That's fantastic! I use it to transfer VHS and 8mm family videos to DVD. It's easy to use. That's true, read a little of the instructions that come with it. In marts you can spend a lot more and get a lot less. This device has excellent cable entry and exit capabilities not found on the lower end models. I've created about 18 DVDs with no problems. I bought an HDMI cable to connect the device to an HD TV. So this can lead to additional costs for you. This HDMI cable costs about $30 in March, so

Toshiba D-R400 on DVD Players and Recorders

Pros: This is my second home DVD recorder and I haven't noticed any glitches with Toshiba. The price of 140 for this quality is excellent. It reads every DVD from every recorder I've tried, including those that other players and recorders can't read. It offers great editing flexibility, including a way to cut out unwanted sections of your program. I have a 47" HD TV and the HDMI output works fine in HD modes, this recorder does a good job of upconverting. Cons: Editing the header is a bit lame…

Toshiba builds an excellent DVD recorder!

I use this product to record my DVR and create DVDs of my computer video programs. I haven't used it to play on an HDTV as I don't have one yet. But I bought it for this purpose after reading reviews about its use with HD networks. I will be buying a 1080 HD set later this year but won't be too disappointed with the quality of the reproducible conversion as I know its limitations from other reviews. The recording site is easy to use and works great to my satisfaction as other reviewers have…

wait no more! on DVD recorders

I've been waiting so long to convert my Hi8 tapes to digital. I wanted this particular converter and was always unsure which one was better. And even if I buy a converter, what will I do after all my 15 or so tapes are converted. Toshiba D-R400 is the perfect solution. Priced at just over $[.], great for what you get - a DVD burner as well as a DVD player that upconverts. First part of the recorder. You can record in XP, SP and other modes, each giving you 1 hour or 2 hours or more of recording
