I love painting portraits and other things on this beautiful, durable black watercolor paper. It's a lot of fun to draw on and gives a very dramatic ethereal look. Gouache, acrylic paints, or white (or lighter) Artgraf water-soluble charcoal that I've been playing with would probably work best. You probably won't want to use transparent colors with this dark paper, and you'll probably want to use light colors that can contrast with the black. This is a high quality archival paper created for selling artwork. But don't let that stop you from having fun! Indeed, what a great gift for an artist in need of a change of perspective!
