Review on ViewSonic VX2485-MHU 1080P Frameless Monitor 60Hz with Built-In Speakers, Tilt Adjustment, Blue Light Filter, IPS by Roderick Carson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Requires a dedicated Thunderbolt cable to use the USB-C AV port with a MacBook.

I received the item today and have been trying for hours to get the display to work via the USB-C port with no success. I've tried both the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. The monitor provides power via the USB-C cable, but the video signal is simply not recognized with this connection option. The HDMI connection works perfectly. The reason I bought this monitor is so I can use the same cable for power and video (as advertised). I contacted ViewSonic support and they were nice but couldn't solve the problem. Your offer was to buy a USB-C to USB-C cable from Belkin for $30 since they are official Apple suppliers? I will try this option and hope it works. However, it is unreasonable for the consumer to be aware of this fact or to bear such additional costs. Stay with us. I've upped my rating since Belkin's new Thunderbolt USB-C to USB-C cable did the trick. I give four stars because the manufacturer could provide better documentation. Otherwise the product is good value for money.
