Nice to hold and use.

This tool is just great! Holding it in my hand alongside all my other scribes, it's easy to see superiority. In use it is also distinguished by the fact that it feels light in the hand, unlike several much longer pens that I own. The knurling is deep and provides an easy, non-slip grip. The hexagonal handle at the end prevents the marker from rolling away. The detachable scraper tip is made of hardened steel and is easy to sharpen. The tip is very hard, which ensures a long service life; The downside is that it's likely brittle and could break if dropped on a hard surface. Sterrett has replacement steel and carbide tips. Carbide can only be sharpened with diamond stones. To avoid accidentally being pricked by a sharp point, reverse the point by inserting it into the body of the instrument. Sterrett only gets four stars for loosening and tightening the nut that holds the tip. After machining the threads in the nut and aligning the threads on the scriber body, the Sterrett does not clean the thread surfaces. Consequently, rotation of the nut is rough and difficult, especially when tightening. Tightening and loosening a nut should be quick and easy with two fingers, and it's not because the threads are so rough. I also have this writer's older brother, 70B. Loosening or tightening a 70V nut is even more difficult. I also have a set of Sterrett vises and they have the exact same problem. The purchase of pin vise and scribes is very recent. Turning the adjustment knob on the Sterrett micrometers is smooth and precise, like butterβ€”quite a contrast. So to fix this problem you need to clean the threads of the scriber and pin vise. This is very simple; Using a very fine diamond grinding paste to clean the threads will help. But the question is: Why didn't Sterrett clean the threads during manufacture when it could have been very easy? So, I have a set of four pin vises and two recorders that need thread cleaning. It seems I'm pretty picky. BUT THESE WRITINGS ARE DELICIOUS TOOLS TO OWN AND USE!
